INCLUSIVE INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Professor Sir Stephen Powis, NHS England Medical Director Feb 2023
The NHS is a culturally and linguistically diverse workplace. While a hugely positive environment in many ways, it can also bring its own communication challenges that affect team cohesion, individual well-being and ultimately patient safety.
For more than 4 years we have been delivering workshops on inclusive intercultural communication skills to NHS Trusts around the UK. Our training offers practical strategies for improving healthcare communication skills with culturally and linguistically diverse colleagues or patients. Our aim is to raise awareness of different perspectives to build collaboration and communication in intercultural healthcare teams. Our workshops also explore communication in high pressure situations and fast paced work environments.
Participants come from a wide range of departments within the NHS and can be clinical or non-clinical staff. To date we have worked with Healthcare Leaders, General Practitioners, Midwives, Anaesthetists, Consultants, Sisters, Ward Managers ,Transformation Project Officers, Overseas Practice Educators, International Medical Graduates, Internationally Educated Healthcare Professionals and others.
Our interactive sessions can be online or face to face. Click on the flyers for an overview of what our sessions entail and to read what our participants say about the training.
Why not let us arrange a call to discuss how we can support staff at your Trust?
